  1. In order to draw realistically it is necessary to be able to perceive the structure of the objects that are to be rendered.  Often this involves perceiving levels of shapes within shapes.  This is referred to as working ΓÇ£general to specificΓÇ¥, drawing the large shapes first, and then  progressively focusing oneΓÇÖs vision on smaller and smaller levels of detail.
